Welcome to NCCA!

Lees-McRae College will be hosting the USA Cycling 2008 Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships. The 2008 event will be conducted October 24-26 on the campus of Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk and at the Sugar Mountain Resort. This marks the second year that Lees-McRae has hosted this event, and only the second time it has been physically held on the campus of a college or university. In the past, colleges or universities have hosted the event but it has traditionally been conducted at a mountain resort.

The purpose of this site is to assist you in locating items of need for the event; lodging, food, location of events, registration, information and directions. Lodging facilities are listed, as are local restaurants. There are several links available for your use as well for online registration and sponsor information.

Past history of this championship illustrates that the three-day event should draw approximately 1200 people. It is anticipated that 400-500 competitors will participate, with an additional 700-800 individuals in attendance to support these efforts. The events being conducted at the national championship include:

• Cross Country – Friday morning, 10/24/08, LMC campus
• Short Track – Saturday morning, 10/25/08, LMC campus
• Downhill – Saturday afternoon, 10/25/08, Sugar Mountain Resort
• Dual Slalom – Sunday morning, 10/26/08, LMC campus

Events being held on the campus of Lees-McRae include Short Track, Dual Slalom and Cross Country. Downhill will be conducted at Sugar Mountain Resort. The specific time of events will be finalized and posted when determined. Additionally, down hill practice will be conducted on Friday, 10/24/08, at Sugar Mountain Resort.
