Lees-McRae College will be hosting the USA Cycling 2007 and 2008 Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships. The 2007 event will be conducted October 26-28 on the campus of Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk and at the Sugar Mountain Resort. What is truly unique about this event is it will be the first time the national event has been physically held on the campus of a college or university. In the past, colleges or universities have hosted the event but it has traditionally been conducted at a mountain resort.

The purpose of this site is to assist you in locating items of need for the event; lodging, food, location of events, registration, information and directions. Lodging facilities are listed, as are local restaurants. The College’s dining service, ARAMARK, is also providing three and two day meal options. There are several links available for your use as well for online registration and sponsor information.

Past history of this championship illustrates that the three-day event should draw approximately 1200 people. It is anticipated that 500 competitors will participate, with an additional 700 individuals in attendance to support these efforts. The events being conducted at the national championship include:

• Cross Country – Friday morning, 10/26/07, LMC campus
• Downhill – Saturday morning, 10/27/07, Sugar Mountain Resort
• Short Track – Saturday afternoon, 10/27/07, LMC campus
• Dual Slalom – Sunday morning, 10/28/07, LMC campus

Events being held on the campus of Lees-McRae include Short Track, Dual Slalom and Cross Country. Downhill will be conducted at Sugar Mountain Resort. The specific time of events will be finalized and posted when determined. Additionally, down hill practice will be conducted on Friday, 10/26/07, at Sugar Mountain Resort.
